Why sustainable marketing?
Eco Integrated prides itself on being a green marketing company. What exactly does that mean? One of the first and foremost ideals Eco Integrated abides by is sustainability. This means that we do not support the depletion of our forests and contributing to the pollution of our environment. Let's talk a little about the impact direct mail has on our planet.
- More than 100 million trees are destroyed each year to produce junk mail; that’s the equivalent of clear-cutting the entire Rocky Mountain National Park every four months.
- More than 62 billion pieces (four million tons) of junk mail are produced each year.
- A response rate of less than 0.25% is considered acceptable for the 500 million U.S. credit card solicitations that are mailed monthly.
- The average American receives 18 pieces of junk mail for every one piece of personal correspondence.
- State and local governments and their citizens spend hundreds of millions of dollars per year to collect and dispose of bulk mail that does not get recycled.
- The energy used to produce and dispose of junk mail is equivalent to the energy required to operate 2.8 million cars.
- About 28 billion gallons of water are wasted to produce and recycle junk mail each year.
- 44% of all junk mail goes into the landfills unopened.
- 40% of the solid mass that makes up our landfills is paper and paperboard waste.
With all that said, you can see why sustainable marketing is a better form of marketing. Sure there are ecological pitfalls of the online world too, such as common electricity usage and that most hosting companies produce harmful carbon dioxide. But there are ways to battle that. One of the ways is to offset the carbon dioxide emissions by planting trees. For every marketing campaign you utilize with us we will purchase trees to go towards that offset.
